Purpose of Internship:

The PULSE@MassChallenge intern will be focused on the PULSE blog and other editoral efforts but will be involved in all aspects of the PULSE Program. This internship is an exciting opportunity to work on the ground floor of a huge initiative. This opportunity will provide you with amazing access to startups and the world's best and most supportive startup resources, including top investors, corporate executives, politicians, university personnel and more.

  • Reports to: Program Director & Community Manager of PULSE@MassChallenge
  • Contract: 4-6 month internship (dependent upon availability)
  • Location: 401 Park Drive, Boston, MA 02215

PULSE@MassChallenge Primary objectives & context

  • Help patients and entrepreneurs win
  • Connect entrepreneurs with the resources they need to launch and succeed immediately
  • Promote innovation, collaboration and commercialization
  • Showcase local ecosystem and benefits of healthcare in Massachusetts


With support from the Commonwealth, City of Boston, and countless other private organizations, PULSE is building upon the success of our main accelerator model in Boston targeting the healthcare sector.

  • Digital health startups that are ready to validate or scale their products and services in a clinical environment will be able to connect and be matched with providers across the state.
  • PULSE@MassChallenge serves as a Boston “hub” for healthcare startups and their collaborators. We will convene events and host networking opportunities for startups, investors and other stakeholders in the ecosystem and develop partner relationships across the states

Main Responsibilities:

The Journalism intern will assist the PULSE@MC team in creating consistent and strong content across all media platforms, especially the PULSE blog. Ideal applicants are individuals with strong writing and critical thinking backgrounds that seek to hone their skills in professional writing, branding, and messaging. 

  • Lead the creation for cover stories for the PULSE@MC blog: You will write dynamic and interesting content for the PULSE@MC blog and the monthly newsletter by interviewing startups, partners and the PULSE community. You will help shape and distinguish the PULSE voice, and capture highlights and moments during internal and external events.
  • In-depth reporting and sourcing: You will manage content distributed through a number of different platforms, but maining the PULSE@MassChallenge blog. You will also have the opportunity to create new initiatives and develop content for our newsletters and social media.
  • Promote highlights from the PULSE@MC program and cohort: You will meet with the startups in the PULSE cohort and help them get their stories out through the blog, newsletter and social media channels.
  • Pitching new content: Includes infographics, video stories, photo essays, story series, etc. that align with the PULSE brand and mission.
  • Place PULSE@MC as a thought leader in the digital healthcare industry: With the eventual goal to rebrand our blog to be our journal.

Skills and background required:

PULSE@MassChallenge is seeking highly motivated fellows passionate about working with startups. Applicants should have a strong work ethic and a lot of enthusiasm for developing their skills and their career in the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
